Speak to Me 04:00
Speak to Me Wake up, America, before it’s too late. Wake up, wake up. I learnt the art of loving from high school movies. Hence, I find myself in something of a quandary: where to sit in the cafeteria, i.e. with which clique, with which clique? Naturally drawn to the geek table, and persecuted by the principal, who resents my idiosyncrasies, my idiosyncrasies, I nevertheless have a plan to win your heart, a plan to win your heart. I feel an image revamp coming on, I feel an image revamp coming on: overnight, thrifty, ingenious. I’m a bit of a weirdo, I’m a bit of a weirdo. But then, underneath, So are you, so are you. I’m going into the heart of America! Oh, I’m biting the bullet— I’m going into the heart. Speak to me. If only you’d speak to me. Swim with me in the moonlight. At the prom in a fortnight’s time, there will be a showdown, there will be a showdown. The regrettable trashing of my father’s car; my rivalry with the football star; no more humiliation in the locker room. I feel a training montage coming on, I feel a training montage coming on. I’m taking off my specs: I’m walking in slo-mo. Wake up, America, before it’s too late. Wake up.

Starglider 04:00
Starglider Lunar lady, I didn’t realise, until it was too late, that we were fighting on different sides—that you would be the one to knock me out of the sky. Lunar lady, you have taken me out comprehensively. When did we become enemies, and why? The funny thing is, I would walk through fire for you. I would walk through fire for you. I would walk through fire for you. I would walk through fire for you. Mayday, Mayday, Starglider. Don’t watch me crash-land; don’t end it this way. Mayday, Mayday, Starglider. Don’t watch me crash-land; don’t end it this way. Lunar lady, can you imagine what it feels like to be shot out of heaven— to be stranded on a blue-green orb? The funny thing is, I have come through fire for you. I have come through fire for you. I have come through fire for you. I have come through fire for you. Mayday, Mayday, Starglider. Don’t watch me crash-land; don’t end it this way. Mayday, Mayday, Starglider. Don’t watch me crash-land; don’t end it this way.

Trailblazer 04:02
Trailblazer The universe has a sense of humour, and we are the punchline, the punchline, the punchline, and we are the punchline, the punchline, the punchline, on the breadline, the breadline. I qualified for free school dinners, but never partook of them. I was too busy honing my ninjutsu moves. Now, in the corner of the JCR, I am reaching my apotheosis on an arcade beat-‘em-up. We’re taking it to the next level: She and I are fighting side by side. We’re taking it to the next level: She is Cody, I am Guy. She’s a trailblazer. Nothing seems to faze her. She’s a trailblazer— the unconventional warrior of my Metro City dreams. She wears a leotard beneath her normal clothes. What I wouldn’t give for a dusting of her face glitter. Later, I’ll write a sci-fi symphony for her on my Bontempi organ. There’s a cluster around us. You see, we’re taking it to the next level: She and I are fighting side by side. We’re taking it to the next level: She is Cody, I am Guy. She’s a trailblazer. Nothing seems to faze her. She’s a trailblazer— the unconventional warrior of my Metro City dreams. The universe has a sense of humour, and we were the punchline, the punchline, the punchline, and we were the punchline, the punchline, the punchline, on the breadline, the breadline. Those who made mixtapes that never got played, know that you are not alone. You are not alone. You are not alone.

about

Wake Up, America by Blue-John Vs Quidgybopper + Sick Robot is a three-piece suite for breakfast clubbing back-to-the-futurists. Like E.T. sending out a cosmic message, they’ve gathered good bits of the 80s, and reassembled them.

The first track, Speak to Me, is Blue-John's conglomeration of high school movie clichés.

Wake Up, America will be released on Hallowe'en 2016—an old-school Monday.

Quidgybopper's 80s-influenced video for Speak to Me can be viewed at vimeo.com/bluequidge.
